EPA prepared a Screencheck EIR for a 479-unit project on a signature property at the entry to the main channel of Marina del Rey.  Although the project was fully compliant with the Local Coastal Program (LCP), it became controversial when mating pairs of Great Blue Herons took up roost in trees be removed for a pedestrian promenade as called for by the LCP, the impacts of which were fully analyzed in the EIR.  The project did not go forward.
